Brief Description

In April 2010, the Ministry of Justice introduced a new pilot programme for the treatment of individuals indicted and condemned for domestic violence. A joint initiative of the Ministry of Justice and the National Prison Service, this programme seeks to address a highly sensitive social problem by focusing on convicted aggressors and providing them psychoeducational behaviour modification treatment. Apart from the sentence which such aggressors may have received, the aim here is to modify their behaviour towards their victims and towards any other women with whom they may have a relationship in the future.
